The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has embarked on ambitious projects aimed at expanding natural gas services in Diba Al Hisn and improving the gas network in the Al Haray neighbourhood of Khorfakkan. This initiative, which has an investment of AED 38.1 million, aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop a comprehensive scheme for providing natural gas services in Diba Al Hisn and enhancing networks across various areas with top-quality specifications.

Engineer Ibrahim Al Blghouni, Director of Natural Gas at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, remarked that the implementation of these projects is part of the authority’s strategic plan to provide clean and sustainable energy across all cities and regions of Sharjah. This development significantly contributes to sustainable growth in both Diba Al Hisn and Khorfakkan.
Project Details and Investments
The gas network development project in the Al Haray neighbourhood of Khorfakkan spans 13.180 kilometres and is estimated to cost AED 3.1 million, featuring 500 service lines. Meanwhile, the total investment for bringing natural gas services to Diba Al Hisn amounts to AED 35 million.
The project to supply natural gas to Diba Al Hisn is divided into three main components, all executed concurrently. This includes the establishment of a natural gas pumping station operating under a virtual line system, alongside a 46-kilometre natural gas network that will cover the Northern neighbourhood, Western neighbourhood, Al Hisn Island, and Al Dub neighbourhood. Additionally, the project will impose internal connections for approximately 200 residential units and the installation of smart meters. These measures ensure direct access to natural gas for subscribers and enhance the efficiency of consumption management and measurement.
