At the heart of this year’s Al Dhaid Date Festival, organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the spotlight shone on the National Food Factory project, designed to enhance the region’s food production capabilities. Held at the Al Dhaid Expo Centre, this festival not only showcased local agricultural prowess but also engaged the community in various informative and interactive activities.
National Food Factory: A Milestone for Sharjah
Showcasing a production capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes annually, the National Food Factory initiative is strategically positioned to cater to local, regional, and global markets. The exhibition attracted considerable attention from festival attendees, including farmers and agricultural enthusiasts, eager to learn more about this significant addition to Sharjah’s food industry.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasised the project’s importance, stating that “the National Food Factory represents a qualitative addition to the food industry ecosystem in Sharjah.”
Engaging Youth and Community
In conjunction with the festival, the Central Youth Council hosted a youth session titled “From Palm to Product: Dialogue, Experience, and Innovation.” This forum brought together several government officials, representatives from youth councils, and Aisha Salih, Chairperson of the Sharjah Chamber Youth Council, to discuss the prospects of innovation in agriculture and food production.
Additionally, the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club organised an educational field trip for participants of the “Our Vacation is Different 2026” sports programme, allowing them to explore the festival’s offerings as part of this year’s Sharjah Week activities.
The Al Dhaid Date Festival remains a vital platform for showcasing the achievements and future potential of agricultural ventures in Sharjah, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the agricultural landscape within the community.
