Sharjah Announces 74-Day Partial Closure of Sheikh Saqr Street

The Sharjah Public Works Department has announced a partial closure on Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi Street as part of works on the Middle Line rainwater and groundwater drainage project, with traffic measures set to remain in place for 74 days.

Closure details

The partial closure began on Monday, 20 July, at 9:00 pm and will continue until Thursday, 1 October 2026. It covers the stretch from the Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi intersection towards the Al Wahda Street intersection in the Al Gubaiba area, in line with the approved traffic plan.

The department said an alternative route has been provided to help maintain traffic flow and reduce the impact of the works on road users.

Infrastructure and safety improvements

It added that the project forms part of its efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of rainwater and groundwater drainage networks. The work is intended to improve road readiness, raise traffic safety levels and support the sustainability of public services.
