Saeed Al Tayer: Prioritizing Green Project Acceleration for Investment

In a significant step towards a sustainable future, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the head of the Global Green Economy Organization, inaugurated a high-level ministerial roundtable titled “From Ambition to Fundable Action – Mobilising Green Investments for a Resilient and Inclusive Global Economy” at the 12th World Green Economy Summit, held from 21 to 22 October 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The summit’s theme was “From Achievement to Expansion: Highlighting the Green Economy.”

Highlighting Global Collaboration

The ministerial session saw the participation of key figures, including Dr. Amina Al Dhahak, the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Aliou Gory, Senegal’s Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition; Balarebi Abbas Lawal, Nigeria’s Minister of Environment; and Steven Victor, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Environment in Palau. Other attendees included Ibrahim Mimerah, Maldives’ Minister of State for Climate Change and Environment, Bader Wail Baidar Al-Ajil Al-Askar, Secretary-General of the Arab Towns Organisation, and Abdullah Balala, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability.

Transforming Commitments into Action

In his opening remarks, Al Tayer emphasised the critical challenge of converting strong commitments into actionable investment projects. “I am pleased to welcome you to Dubai for this high-level dialogue,” he stated, highlighting that the title itself encapsulates the main challenge: turning ambitious goals into viable projects that attract financing and yield measurable results.

He noted that while governments have established clear climate strategies and commitments, the pressing task remains to translate these into investable projects, fruitful partnerships, and sufficient capital. “How do we convert promising ideas into investment-ready projects and link them with necessary capital for implementation?” he questioned, emphasising that fundability extends beyond merely financial returns. It also involves structuring projects that attract investment while creating green jobs and equitable opportunities.

Addressing the Demand for Green Investments

Al Tayer further acknowledged the increasing pressures on natural resources and the need for ongoing investment in the green transition. “The challenge is not just in mobilising more funding but in highlighting suitable projects and ensuring their credibility and readiness for financing. This is where the Global Green Economy Organization plays a pivotal role,” he asserted. The organisation aims to facilitate dialogue and create a platform uniting governments, financial institutions, development partners, investors, technology providers, and entrepreneurs.

Urgency for Accelerated Implementation

Concluding the roundtable, Al Tayer stressed a core message derived from the discussions: the challenge lies not in formulating ambitious plans but in accelerating their implementation. “For capital to move faster, it must be matched by equally swift project progression,” he concluded. This can be achieved through enhancing the list of fundable opportunities, improving project readiness, managing risks, and aligning public and private capital.
