Sharjah is making remarkable strides in digital real estate mapping through an initiative led by the Sharjah Department of Municipalities Affairs. This program, part of the government’s “Aqari” platform, aims to create a detailed digital inventory of properties throughout the emirate. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, Sharjah advances digital real estate mapping to enhance planning and streamline future developments within the region.
Transforming the Real Estate Landscape
The initiative seeks to establish a comprehensive, data-driven perspective of Sharjah’s property landscape, ultimately benefiting city planners and stakeholders. Sultan Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department, emphasized that this effort marks a significant milestone toward the emirate’s objective of elevating its real estate sector through innovative digital transformation.
He elaborated, “This project is key to our ‘Aqari’ platform, where our department focuses on the engineering side. Our goal is to create a detailed digital database of real estate in Sharjah, including the size and specifications of buildings.” According to Al Ketbi, this digital mapping initiative will significantly enhance decision-making for future urban planning, underscoring the collaborative spirit among various government bodies in Sharjah.
Extensive Mapping of Properties
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, highlighted that the initiative has already mapped over 2.8 million square meters of properties, covering more than 1,300 projects and 42,000 property types, ranging from residential to commercial and industrial units. This extensive mapping serves as a foundational element in effectively managing and utilizing real estate information across the emirate.
Embracing Technology: AI and Automation
A crucial aspect of the digital real estate mapping project involves reworking and structuring building information to facilitate the integration of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence. This enhancement allows for more efficient processing of data, contributing to the emirate’s broader goal of automating real estate services, thereby improving efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility.
As the initiative continues to progress, it promises to enhance data quality and consistency, paving the way for more advanced digital services throughout Sharjah’s property market. By advancing digital real estate mapping, the emirate positions itself for a future that leverages technology to streamline operations and support sustainable urban growth.
