In a remarkable showcase of the coffee industry’s vibrancy, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has successfully concluded the second edition of the “Dubai Coffee Auction,” marking a significant milestone in the realm of specialty coffee trading. The event recorded a total of 1,364 bids, with specialty coffee batches commanding an impressive total value of $70,000. This auction not only attracted producers from 13 coffee-producing nations but also underscored Dubai’s growing role as a global hub for specialty coffee.
Historic Auction Highlights
The “Dubai Coffee Auction,” held under the auspices of the DMCC as part of the Dubai Coffee World Exhibition 2026, saw robust international participation, reflected in the 1,364 bids submitted by buyers from various global specialty coffee markets. Significantly, the auction made history with the first international sale of coffee from the continental United States. This not only set a new pricing benchmark for coffee from the U.S. mainland but also emphasized the auction’s important role in broadening producer discovery and establishing transparent, organized market access.
Exceptional Pricing and Market Demand
The auction also delivered noteworthy pricing results for several established coffee-producing countries. A batch of specialty Bolivian coffee reached a remarkable price of $386 per kilogram, marking the second-highest auction price ever recorded for Bolivian coffee. This trend highlights the ongoing international demand for high-quality, traceable coffee when offered through transparent and competitive platforms. As the DMCC notes, these outcomes are indicative of a thriving market eager for exceptional coffee varieties.
Insights from DMCC Leadership
Ahmad Hamza, Executive Director of the DMCC Free Zone, commented, “With the total value of the global coffee market surpassing $130 billion, and the share of specialty coffee continually growing, it is essential to have reliable mechanisms for price discovery. This ensures the sustainability of the sector in the long term.” He further remarked, “The results of the Dubai Coffee Auction 2026 clearly showcase the depth of global demand for high-quality, traceable coffee, particularly when producers are granted direct access to international buyers.” Hamza emphasized that the sophisticated infrastructure of Dubai is translating into transparent pricing, genuine competition, and tangible value for the coffee-producing countries involved.
A Series of Successful Auctions
The Dubai Coffee Auction is part of a three-auction program taking place during the Dubai Coffee World Exhibition 2026. The program kicked off with the “Dubai Coffee Equipment Auction,” showcasing exclusive and limited-edition coffee equipment. The second day featured the “Microlot Auction,” which highlighted the finest specialty coffees from both traditional and emerging coffee-producing countries. The program culminated on the third day with the “Exhibitors’ Coffee Auction,” where roasters and participating producers showcased their unique coffees to a global audience of buyers.
As the DMCC continues to enhance its position as a leading global marketplace for specialty coffee, events like the Dubai Coffee Auction are pivotal in promoting transparency and fostering direct connections between producers and buyers worldwide.
