Regional Training Effectiveness

In a significant event, the Federal Public Prosecution launched the third phase of the regional training program to develop investigative capabilities related to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) crimes. The opening session was attended by Lucia Berger, the EU Ambassador, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the investigation and prosecution of transnational crimes.

Enhancing Judicial Capacities

During her speech, Berger pointed out that building specialized legal capacities is essential for addressing chemical and nuclear crimes. She affirmed that the European Union is committed to enhancing cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, contributing to improved institutional responses to these challenges. This requires effective strategies to support academics and professionals specializing in this field.

Meeting of the Attorney General with the Ambassador and Experts

His Excellency the Attorney General, Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, held a meeting with the ambassador and a group of international experts to discuss the program’s objectives and ways to develop the partnership. The focus was on enhancing national capacities in line with global best practices to meet the requirements for investigating CBRN crimes.

Next Steps in the Training Program

During the session, Counselor Salem Ali Al Zaabi, Head of the Emergency, Crises, and Disasters Prosecution, noted that this new phase represents a qualitative leap in building strong legal sensitivities. He mentioned that the previous two phases had proven successful in terms of quality and application, with 43 trainees completing 36 training hours in a program spanning five months. The third phase focuses on an integrated judicial pathway, covering all stages of investigation, from crime characterization to trial management.

The regional training program, which extends over five months, represents a valuable opportunity to enhance the necessary competencies to address chemical and nuclear crimes. As the third phase is implemented, participants are preparing to further develop their skills in tackling global challenges related to security and law.
