Official data reveals significant increases in passenger numbers at key UAE airports, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai International, and Sharjah International. By the end of September, Abu Dhabi airports recorded approximately 24.29 million travelers, with 8.49 million of those arriving in the third quarter alone. This surge aligns with the city’s growth strategy, which focuses on expanding connectivity and enhancing services.

Expansion of Routes and Airlines

Abu Dhabi’s airports have successfully introduced numerous new airline partnerships, contributing to the 108.59 million passengers reinforcing the leadership of UAE’s global airports narrative. Notably, Jazeera Airways resumed flights to Abu Dhabi, linking Zayed International Airport and Al Ain International Airport with Kuwait. Additionally, major airlines such as China Eastern Airlines and Seychelles Airlines have commenced new routes, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub.

The airport even shattered its own record for quarterly passenger traffic during the third quarter, achieving 24.2 million travelers—an increase of 1.9% compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects the broader trend seen in the UAE aviation sector, further underscoring how 108.59 million passengers reinforce the leadership of UAE’s global airports.

Sharjah International Airport’s Performance

Following this success, Sharjah International Airport also showed impressive figures, welcoming around 14.2 million passengers in the same timeframe.
