7% of Entities Operating in the Financial Services Sector are American
In the world of finance and business, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) serves as a strategic platform that enhances the presence of American companies. According to statements by Arif Amiri, the CEO of the DIFC, American companies currently represent about 7% of the entities operating in the financial services sector in Dubai. This underscores the strength of the relationship between the United States and Dubai as a global financial hub.
A Long History of Cooperation
Since its establishment in 2004, the DIFC has become the preferred destination for many American companies. Amiri noted in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that Dubai offers numerous advantages that make it attractive, providing an ideal gateway for American companies to access markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, which encompass 77 countries with a total population of approximately 3.8 billion people.
An Ideal Environment for Growth
The DIFC is characterized by its advanced infrastructure and a robust legal and regulatory framework, making it an ideal environment for attracting investments. Amiri emphasized that the centre offers a unique platform connecting global companies to promising growth markets, further enhancing Dubai’s status as a global hub for talent and innovation. Due to these factors, American companies increasingly prefer to conduct their business in Dubai.
Focus on Alternative Investments
Dubai has also emerged as a leading center for alternative investments, offering American banks and hedge funds a blend of regulatory transparency and a secure legal environment. Nearly two-thirds of the hedge funds registered at the centre originate from the United States and the United Kingdom, including prominent global funds such as Cambridge Associates and PIMCO. This clearly indicates the significance of the American financial sector in supporting the economic framework of the DIFC.
A Promising Future for the Financial Sector
In addition to the growth in assets under management, which are expected to reach $700 billion by 2024, recent developments in cooperation with American institutions reflect the financial strength of the region. The DIFC has announced a new partnership with the Institute of International Finance to organize the inaugural Dubai Week for the Future of the Financial Sector.
In this way, the DIFC demonstrates that the 7% of entities operating in the financial services sector being American is not just a number, but a part of a continuous success and increasing collaboration between nations. The ongoing focus on innovation and growth positions Dubai at the forefront of global markets.
