All eyes are on the UAE as expectations rise for national economic growth to exceed 5% by 2026. Supported by a diverse range of economic sectors and increased investments, this growth marks a significant milestone in the country’s economic trajectory, enhancing its status as a prominent regional financial hub.
Growth Expectations and Sector Diversity
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and Tourism, indicated that the expected growth for the national economy is over 5% this year, bolstered by the comprehensive vision adopted by the government. He noted that growth for 2025 is projected to be between 4.5% and 5%, with expectations to maintain this level or exceed it to 5.5% in the coming years.
Investment Increases and Business Growth
In his remarks during the “Investopia – Partners 2026” event, bin Touq pointed out that the number of companies registered in the national economic register has risen from 650,000 five years ago to 1.45 million currently. This number is expected to reach two million by 2031, reflecting an encouraging investment environment.
The UAE’s Appeal as a Global Investment Hub
In 2024, the UAE successfully attracted investments exceeding $45 billion, establishing it as a global financial gateway. The country is characterized by a strong legislative and regulatory framework, which has helped businesses, particularly family-owned ones, to establish their regional and global operations here.
The Governance Game and Its Role in Strengthening Partnerships
The organization of events like “Investopia” in Abu Dhabi reflects the country’s efforts to enhance investments. The fifth edition of the event was announced under the theme “Creating Opportunities in a New Economic Era.” This event aims to attract leaders and decision-makers from around the world to explore collaboration opportunities and increase investments across various sectors.
Bin Touq added that “Investopia” shapes the future of investment in the region by identifying economic transformations and trends in capital flows, contributing to the UAE’s positioning as a global business center. The expected growth of the national economy, surpassing 5% by 2026, illustrates the UAE’s distinctiveness in attracting global investments and fostering fruitful partnerships.
