National Dialogue Seeks to Strengthen Pharmaceutical Security Measures

On January 7, the National Federal Council will convene to discuss the crucial topic of the government’s policy aimed at achieving national security in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sectors. This session, led by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, marks the third gathering of the council for the current legislative term. The meeting is timely, given the growing importance of ensuring the integrity and availability of healthcare products in the United Arab Emirates.

Session Details and Focus

The meeting will be held in the Sheikh Zayed Hall at the council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. A key agenda item will be the assessment of the government’s strategy regarding national security for pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies. This discussion is expected to delve into how regulatory frameworks can enhance the resilience of the health sector.

Ministerial Accountability

Members of the council are set to pose five critical questions to His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al-Sayegh, the Minister of Health and Prevention. These inquiries aim to cover various aspects of the healthcare landscape. Notably, H.E. Naema Abdullah Al-Sharhan will raise questions concerning the mechanisms for rapid medical intervention in critical cases and the obstacles related to delayed approvals from insurance companies. She will also inquire about routine screenings for early cancer detection.

Healthcare for Citizens

In addition to the previously mentioned queries, H.E. Dr. Adnan Hamad Al-Hamadi will focus on health insurance for citizens. Meanwhile, H.E. Aisha Ibrahim Al-Marri will address the pressing need for rehabilitative centers for senior citizens in the northern Emirates and the enhancement of medical transportation services for this demographic to access healthcare facilities.

Population Growth Initiatives

Moreover, the council will review a communication from the government regarding the Cabinet’s decision on the recommendations about policies to enhance birth rates in the UAE. This initiative reflects the council’s commitment to contributing to the socio-economic stability of the nation through comprehensive healthcare strategies.
