In a move aimed at enhancing passenger satisfaction, national carriers announced an extension of the flexible facilitation timeframe for travelers whose flights were affected by the partial closure of the regional airspace. This initiative is designed to allow passengers to adjust their travel plans easily and provide them with sufficient time to rearrange their trips according to current circumstances.
Rebooking and Refund Options
According to the operational updates issued by the airlines, the new flexible facilitation timeframe allows for rebooking without additional fees or requesting a ticket refund, within specific time frames based on the ticket issuance date and original travel date.
In this context, Emirates Airlines issued notifications clarifying that travelers who booked their flights between February 28 and April 15 can rebook on an alternative flight until May 31, 2026. They can also request a ticket refund through the refund form, whether they booked directly with the airline or through a travel agent.
Additional Facilitation from Other Airlines
For travelers with Etihad Airways, they can rebook for free until May 15, 2026, for tickets issued on or before February 28, 2026. The airline also offers the option to request a refund through its website or via a travel agent.
Additionally, FlyDubai offers travelers who booked their flights between February 28 and March 31 the option to rebook to any destination within its network within 30 days of the original travel date, without additional fees.

Commenting on this initiative, Amin Al Awadi, General Manager of Al Awadi Travel Agency, stated, “The flexible policies of the national carriers reflect their global reputation and provide travelers with broader options to modify their travel plans.” He added that the extension of the rebooking timeframe is a reflection of the carriers’ commitment to protecting passenger rights and enhancing their confidence in transportation services.
