In a heartwarming revelation, Miyar Othman’s mother, Mai Sharabi, shared the inspiring journey of her daughter, who recently secured the top spot in the Arab Reading Challenge. Mai emphasized the pivotal role played by both family and school in nurturing Miyar’s exceptional talent in the Arabic language.
The Foundation: Quranic Memorisation and School Radio
During an exclusive interview on the 6 o’clock programme with journalist Azza Mustafa, aired on Al Hayat TV, Mai recounted how Miyar’s remarkable abilities began to emerge when she memorised the Holy Quran. The family quickly noticed her distinct pronunciation and her ability to respond promptly to correct articulation.
Her true breakthrough, according to Mai, came with Miyar’s involvement in the school’s radio segment, which eventually led her to participate in individual recitation competitions. Impressively, she clinched the first place nationally in individual recitation while still in fourth grade.
A Passionate Pursuit and Support from School
When discussing the balance between Miyar’s academic commitments and her participation in competitions, Mai highlighted her daughter’s passion and determination as key factors that facilitated the structuring of her time effectively. This enthusiasm made it easier for Mai to support her daughter in achieving her aim of winning the contest.
Mai praised the significant influence of Miyar’s supervisor, who dedicated herself to cultivating Miyar’s love for reading and collaborated closely with the family to guide them on the necessary steps and requirements to best showcase Miyar’s talent, ultimately leading her to the winner’s podium.
The Next Step: The “Minute with Miyar” Platform
Looking ahead post her victory in the Arab Reading Challenge, Mai revealed that they have already begun establishing an online platform named “Minute with Miyar.” Through this initiative, Miyar aims to encourage fellow students to embrace reading and raise awareness about its immense importance. Mai affirmed their commitment to advancing this project in the upcoming period.
