Mohammed bin Rashid Opens the New Session of the “National” on Behalf of the President

In a grand ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, opened the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council yesterday on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The event, attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several prominent leaders of the nation, symbolizes the beginning of a new phase of legislative work in the UAE.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony began with the performance of the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid then inaugurated the session, stating: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, my brothers and sisters, the President and members of the Federal National Council, with the blessing and success of Allah, we inaugurate your esteemed council, and we ask Allah – the Almighty – that this opening be a source of goodness and blessings for the people and the nation. Peace be upon you, and God’s mercy and blessings.”

Call for Productive Work

In a post on his official account on the “X” platform regarding the opening of the new session of the Federal National Council on behalf of the President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said: “Our renewed call to the council is to be the voice of the homeland and the citizen… to be a supporter and ally of the UAE government team, in supporting our economic journey, our social cohesion, and the future of our coming generations. We ask Allah to grant them success in serving the nation and its people.”

Emphasis on Effective Partnership

During the opening, Federal Decree No. 151 of 2025, issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was read, calling for the convening of the Federal National Council. In his speech, the Chairman of the Federal National Council, Saqr Ghobash, welcomed Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, highlighting the significance of this new phase in the council’s constitutional and legislative duties.

Ghobash emphasized the fruitful partnership between the executive and legislative authorities, which embodies the consultative approach established by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also highlighted the major achievements of the UAE in 2025, confirming that the nation has attained a prestigious position on the international stage.

Future Directions

Ghobash noted that 2025 has been designated as the “Year of Society” and 2026 as the “Year of Family,” clarifying that these titles focus on the importance of social ties and family in enhancing development. He affirmed that the approval of the federal budget for 2026 reflects the clarity of the UAE’s vision for the future and its strategy for sustainable growth.
