In a significant meeting aimed at fostering sustainable development, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, welcomed Engineer Ali Qassem, Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, at his office in the Emiri Diwan.
Emphasis on Sustainable Resource Management
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of effective planning and optimal utilisation of natural resources, underscoring the need to consider environmental factors to enhance sustainability. He stressed the necessity for collaboration and coordination among relevant authorities and the private sector to bolster the development trajectory of the emirate.
Support for Development Projects
Sheikh Mohammed also acknowledged the ongoing support and oversight from His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, for development initiatives in the resources sector and mining industries within the emirate. He noted the pivotal role these projects play in advancing sustainable and comprehensive development in Fujairah and the wider UAE.
Innovations in Service Delivery
The Crown Prince was briefed on the corporation’s key efforts and developmental projects in the natural resources and mining sectors, as well as its plans to enhance service delivery systems and develop national competencies. Notably, he reviewed the institution’s initiatives aimed at aligning its services with global best practices. The Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation recently joined the pilot phase of the sixth cycle of the Global Service Classification System, achieving a four-star rating in the final report of this phase. This made it the first local entity in Fujairah to implement the system, which has helped evaluate service readiness and identify areas for improvement.
Development Projects and Workforce Empowerment
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed also examined significant developmental projects related to natural resources in Fujairah over the past period. He commended the corporation’s efforts to enhance the natural resources and mining sector and emphasised the importance of developing and qualifying national human resources. He reiterated the need to equip local professionals with practical and scientific expertise in fields that serve the natural resources sector, particularly in mining, geology, and artificial intelligence. This approach is expected to better prepare them for the sector’s future demands and advancements.
