Swelled with anticipation, Khur Fakkan Port, managed by the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, is set to receive a monumental roll-on/roll-off vessel carrying 6,068 new-energy vehicles from Chinese automotive giant BYD. This shipment, departing from Xiaomoh International Logistics Port in Shenzhen, marks the inauguration of a direct maritime shipping route between China and the UAE.
Strategic Logistics Solution for Middle Eastern Exports
The voyage from Guangdong Province in southern China represents a strategic logistical solution aimed at facilitating the export flow of Chinese companies to the UAE and the broader Middle East region. The newly established shipping line significantly reduces transit times between the two nations by 3 to 5 days, addressing potential challenges linked to the varying circumstances of transporting vehicles and heavy equipment.
A Record-Setting Shipment
This latest shipment has achieved a remarkable milestone, being recorded as the largest single vehicle shipment ever handled by Xiaomoh Port. Since its opening in late 2021, Xiaomoh Port has operated 12 maritime routes for vehicle transport, creating extensive connections spanning the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.
Operational Excellence at Khur Fakkan Port
Khur Fakkan Port, operated by Gulf Teiner, has established itself as a top-performing hub for vehicle handling. By August 2026, the port had processed an impressive total of 24,675 vehicles, averaging a discharge rate of 141 vehicles per hour since the year began. The highest recorded rate soared to 197 vehicles per hour. The implementation of the “Discharge & Drive” model has expedited the direct clearance of vehicles, enabling them to exit the port’s yards within 96 hours.
