Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University of Science and Technology has proudly announced the graduation of its first cohort from the dual degree programme in Aerospace Engineering, developed in collaboration with the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation. This milestone marks a significant point in the strategic partnership between the two institutions.
Six Graduates Earn Dual Bachelor Degrees in Aerospace Engineering
The inaugural cohort consists of six students who completed the first three years of their studies at Khalifa University before transitioning to Moscow for their final academic year at the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation. Upon fulfilling the programme requirements, graduates earn two Bachelor’s degrees — one from Khalifa University and the other from the Moscow institution.
This programme is an extension of the long-term partnership between the two institutions, integrating Khalifa University’s academic and engineering strengths with the specialised expertise of the Moscow university in aviation and aerospace engineering. Collaborative efforts have included specialised summer programmes in addition to the dual degree pathway based on a 3+1 structure.
The dual degree programme provides students with advanced experience in aircraft design, structural analysis, propulsion systems, flight dynamics, space systems, advanced manufacturing, and composite materials, alongside training in engineering tools and laboratory work.
During their time in Moscow, these students also completed engineering design projects, allowing them to engage in an international environment that broadens their perspectives and develops their adaptability and teamwork skills across different disciplines and cultures.
Professor Ibrahim Aljiri, President of Khalifa University of Science and Technology, commended the success of the first cohort, stating: “The success of this inaugural graduating class reflects Khalifa University’s commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities that prepare students for leadership roles in globally competitive sectors. By combining academic excellence with international expertise, we equip our graduates with the knowledge, skills, and vision required to tackle complex engineering challenges and contribute to technological advancement.”
He added, “As a research-intensive institution and a catalyst for the knowledge economy in the UAE, Khalifa University is committed to preparing skilled professionals capable of driving innovation and supporting national priorities. We congratulate our graduates on this significant achievement and look forward to their future contributions to the aviation and aerospace sectors in the UAE.”
This programme plays a crucial role in cultivating highly skilled engineering professionals to support the UAE’s ambitions and ongoing investments in the aviation and aerospace domains, effectively merging advanced engineering education with practical experience and international exposure.
Following the success of the first cohort, nine students from the Aerospace Engineering programme are set to travel to Moscow in the first week of September 2026 to commence their final year as part of the second cohort.
From the first cohort, one student will begin a PhD at Khalifa University in the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, while the remaining five graduates are completing their final practical training before entering the job market, including one graduate who has remained in Moscow to finish her internship.
Khalifa University continues to enhance opportunities for international learning, bolster its academic and research capabilities, and prepare qualified national talent to contribute to the strategic priorities of the UAE through its partnership with the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation.
