Institutional Fatwa Conference: A Path to Peace and Coexistence in Rabat

In a significant gathering aimed at fostering peace and coexistence, the Moroccan capital, Rabat, has commenced the two-day forum titled “Institutional Fatwa: A Contributor to Peace and Coexistence”. This event brings together the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa and the Higher Scientific Council of Morocco, focusing on the development of institutional fatwa practices and their impact on societal welfare and communal harmony.

Significance of the Forum

The forum holds a special importance as it merges the expertise of two well-established institutional fatwa bodies. This collaboration not only facilitates knowledge and experience sharing but also showcases institutional practices that address contemporary issues. Such exchanges are vital for enhancing cooperation among official fatwa institutions, while also being sensitive to the unique characteristics, values, and national interests of different communities.

Guided by Influential Scholars

Under the direct supervision and scientific guidance of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, President of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa, the forum seeks to advance the concept of institutional fatwa. It aims to promote collective reasoning that connects fatwa considerations with practical jurisprudence, objectives, and outcomes. Furthermore, the forum encourages the integration of diverse knowledge and specialisations in addressing complex issues across various dimensions.

Goals and Objectives

One of the primary goals of the forum is to solidify the institutional fatwa as a form of collective reasoning while broadening scientific cooperation. It also aims to highlight the role of fatwa institutions in preserving identity and national interests, strengthening social cohesion and stability, and instilling values of peace, coexistence, and moderation. Additionally, it seeks to explore ways to adapt to digital transformations, modern technologies, and artificial intelligence in the realm of fatwa issuance.

Launch of New Publications

The forum will also feature the launch of the publication “Family in the Context of Real Jurisprudence” in four volumes, documenting the proceedings of the third Global Conference of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa. Another significant release will be “Models of Fatwas from the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa: Applications in Developing Institutional Fatwa for Contemporary Issues,” which aims to provide a documented knowledge base that can be utilized for future reference and development.
