Global Government Summit Unites 100 Nations to Strengthen Partnerships

In a continuing effort to forge international collaborations, the Global Government Summit has successfully convened representatives from over 100 countries during its annual Ambassador Retreat. This event, spearheaded by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Global Government Summit, aims to foster dialogue and partnerships essential for shaping a sustainable future.

Strengthening International Collaborations for Future Development

During the Ambassador Retreat, held in Dubai, Al Gergawi emphasised the summit’s role as an incubator for global partnerships, offering a platform for governments worldwide to exchange valuable insights and strategies tailored for future developments. He remarked, “The summit is a hub for international partnerships that brings governments around the world together to share visions aimed at building the future.” The retreat serves as a strategic platform to enhance international cooperation and widen discussions among decision-makers globally, with a focus on responding to the rapid changes that characterise today’s economic and social landscapes.

Insights from the 2026 Global Ministerial Survey

The event also highlighted findings from the 2026 Global Ministers Survey, conducted with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). This survey revealed that 79% of the 61 ministers surveyed anticipate an increasing role for their governments in the future. Notably, 34% acknowledged that their governments had fully embraced change. However, the survey pointed out significant challenges to this transformation, including a deficiency in funding (36%), a lack of skills and competencies (18%), and cybersecurity issues (16%).

Upcoming Themes and Regional Cooperation

Details regarding the 2027 Global Government Summit were also shared by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, who outlined the primary themes for the next summit. Discussions will focus on artificial intelligence, future-focused governments, economic investment, food and water security, education, sustainability, and urban futures. This upcoming summit strives to enhance cooperation amid rapid global changes, in direct response to the pressing issues discussed during the retreat.

Redefining Access to the Future

Participants engaged in a dialogue regarding how governments can reshape their concept of access in the face of evolving challenges like artificial intelligence advancements and new energy transitions. This session, titled “How Governments Redefine the Concept of Access to the Future,” featured insights from prominent figures, including Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the Head of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and Maria Belovas, Estonia’s Ambassador to the UAE, among others. They elaborated on the ACCESS framework, which encompasses six key areas of focus, including access to artificial intelligence, culture, capital, economy, supplies, and stability for sustainable societal growth.

The Ambassador Retreat not only exemplifies the summit’s dedication to international cooperation but also serves as a critical platform for addressing major global trends and engaging stakeholders in shaping future pathways in various sectors central to human existence and societal evolution.
