Global Financial Institutions Boost Confidence in Dubais Economy

The global financial landscape is increasingly recognizing the UAE, particularly Dubai, as a key hub for business and investment. Global financial institutions affirm their confidence in the UAE and Dubai as a primary center for business and investment, highlighting the robust economic ecosystem cultivated in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Leading institutions across banking, insurance, wealth management, and fintech demonstrate a solid commitment to the region, showcasing tangible evidence of their confidence in Dubai’s long-term growth potential.

Strengthening Economic Ties

DIFC has demonstrated remarkable resilience, proving itself capable of sustained growth. As highlighted by its governor, Essa Kazem, current regional challenges have reinforced the confidence among the centre’s institutions and partners. “The recent regional developments have showcased the strength of the DIFC community and the steadfast confidence among its institutions and partners,” Kazem stated, emphasizing the mutual belief in the long-term opportunities provided by Dubai and the UAE.

This interlinked trust is rooted in the shared conviction among the firms operating within DIFC regarding vast market access to 77 markets across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. By leveraging this integrated ecosystem, DIFC continues to support the future of the financial sector and bolsters Dubai’s position as one of the top four global financial centres.

Global Banking Sector in Focus

DIFC hosts 290 institutions within the banking and capital markets sector, including 17 of the world’s top 19 banks. “Amid the geopolitical transformations in global markets, the ability to provide cross-border solutions has become increasingly important,” stated Ebru Bakcan, Head of Middle East and Africa Banking at Citi. She added that DIFC offers the optimal environment to deliver these services effectively.

Regis Berger, the new CEO of Julius Baer (Middle East) Limited, highlighted the UAE’s establishment as a prominent global financial centre, ensuring that “the global connectivity, supportive regulatory environment, and efficient tax structures continue to enhance the attractiveness of the UAE for investors and financial institutions alike.” He emphasized that DIFC remains at the core of this journey.

Insurance and Wealth Management Growth

The insurance sector has seen significant growth in DIFC over the past four years, with total premiums more than doubling to over $4.2 billion. Industry leaders affirm DIFC’s vital role in enhancing risk management capabilities regionally. Omar Al-Jamaei, CEO of Marsh DIFC, stated, “Dubai has established itself as an international hub for insurance and risk management, bringing together a wide array of firms and experts to assist clients in navigating increasingly complex risks.”

In wealth management, Dubai emerged as the largest wealth centre in the Middle East, attracting more millionaires than any other country in 2026, according to Henley & Partners. Peter Clark, CEO of Bentley Reid, acknowledged that the UAE’s strong economic foundations, combined with a supportive business culture and dynamic economy, reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading regional centre for wealth management.

Fintech Developments and Innovations

On the technological front, DIFC continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading hub for fintech and digital assets. Companies like Ripple have established a regional presence in Dubai, emphasizing the strategic advantages the UAE offers for financial innovation. “Since establishing our regional headquarters in 2020, we have expanded our local operations and developed innovative solutions to meet the growing demand for digital asset infrastructure,” noted Rish Merrick, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Ripple.

Furthermore, startups like Stak have thrived in the DIFC environment, reflecting the opportunities available in Dubai even during global challenges. Co-founder and CEO Manar Al-Mahmasani remarked, “Our choice of DIFC was driven not only by its established financial stature but also its integrated ecosystem for ambitious companies.”

DIFC stands as a testament to the growing global confidence in the UAE, with global financial institutions affirming their trust in the UAE and Dubai as a primary center for business and investment. This confidence is not merely theoretical; it manifests in the myriad institutions establishing a solid footing within this forward-thinking financial hub.
