The Federal Tax Authority showcased its institutional excellence and innovation framework during a visit by a delegation from Sharjah’s Department of Central Finance, highlighting a shared commitment to benchmarking, capability-building, and modern public-sector performance. The visit underscored how the Federal Tax Authority continues to strengthen its operating model through advanced practices, strong governance, and a workplace culture built for long-term progress.
During the visit to the authority’s headquarters in Dubai, the Sharjah delegation reviewed the organization’s working methods and its comprehensive strategy, which relies on global best practices and the latest technologies to support sustainable operational development and improve service quality. The exchange offered a practical look at how the Federal Tax Authority aligns institutional performance with innovation-driven public administration.
Benchmarking Institutional Performance
The benchmarking exercise covered eight key institutional areas, including the application of institutional excellence standards, strategy development, project management, standards for the innovative government entity, measurement of the quality-of-life index and readiness of the work environment for the future, as well as client satisfaction measurement, the operational follow-up guide, and the institutional performance system.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, said the authority is keen to deepen cooperation and exchange expertise with government and private entities linked to the tax ecosystem, in a way that supports institutional development and enhances performance efficiency.
He also stressed the importance of drawing on best practices, operational methodologies, and performance indicators, noting that such benchmarking strengthens reference comparisons locally and globally and reinforces the UAE’s competitiveness and leadership in tax administration and government excellence. The Federal Tax Authority views this approach as central to maintaining momentum in institutional improvement.
Global Standards and Practical Learning
During the joint meeting, specialists from the Federal Tax Authority presented its operational management methodologies, performance management system, and experience in participating in the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award, alongside other external awards and international standards adopted by the organization. The discussions reflected the authority’s structured approach to learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement.
The meeting also covered the surveys management system, strategic planning methodology, the analytical framework for strategy preparation, as well as happiness and quality-of-life initiatives, the corporate culture project, Government Performance System 3.0, and the human capital management strategy. These components form part of a wider effort to embed excellence across all levels of the organization.
In addition, the Federal Tax Authority reviewed project management themes and monitoring mechanisms, its innovation projects, Innovation Strategy 2024-2026, the Innovation Charter, the electronic suggestions system “Shorakum,” and the standards required to obtain the government innovative entity certification, reflecting a clear direction toward institutionalizing innovation and excellence in public service. The delegation’s visit highlighted how the Federal Tax Authority continues to translate policy into practice through measurable systems and a forward-looking institutional culture.
