In a significant move to enhance support for delivery workers across the United Arab Emirates, Careem, in collaboration with the national fund for social responsibility, Majra, has announced the year-round expansion of its “Mercy Pledge” initiative. This endeavour aims to provide continuous assistance to those in the delivery services sector.
Year-Round Commitment to Delivery Workers
Abdullah bin Touq Al Mari, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Fund for Social Responsibility, Majra, stated, “By expanding the initiative to provide support year-round, both Careem and Majra, along with their partners, demonstrate what can be achieved when private sector efforts unite towards a common goal. We encourage more institutions to join in these efforts.”
Successful Summer Launch
Originally launched in June 2026 as part of the summer initiatives, the Mercy Pledge returned for a second consecutive year, providing practical and field support to delivery workers in major cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, with the initiative reaching Al Ain for the first time.
Supportive Facilities for Workers
The initiative featured nine air-conditioned mobile rest areas that operated daily from 10 AM to 5 PM in high-density delivery regions. These rest zones offered delivery workers a safe space to relax, cool down, and hydrate between orders. In addition, they provided free health check-ups to enhance the well-being of the workers.
Impressive Outreach and Contribution
As of early September, the rest areas have welcomed over 100,000 visitors, with projections suggesting that this number could rise to approximately 125,000 by the end of the initiative. The overall value of products, services, and direct contributions provided by partners has exceeded 1.4 million dirhams, underscoring the project’s impact and the commitment of its partners.
