The Future Leaders Empowerment Programme recently concluded its field experience in the Egyptian city of Arish, as part of Operation “Gallant Knight 3.” This immersive experience allowed the programme members to closely witness the United Arab Emirates’ efforts in supporting their Palestinian brothers and sisters and to understand the humanitarian, medical, and logistical systems at play in the operation.
Logistical Insights into Humanitarian Aid
The delegation visited the UAE humanitarian aid logistics centre, where they learned about the processes involved in receiving, sorting, preparing, and packing aid supplies. In a hands-on experience, they participated in getting humanitarian aid trucks ready for transportation to the Rafah crossing. This engagement provided valuable insights into the operational intricacies required for effective humanitarian assistance.
Medical Support and Community Engagement
Another significant stop for the delegation was the UAE floating hospital, where they observed the medical and therapeutic services offered to injured and ill Palestinians. They gained first-hand knowledge of the medical teams’ efforts within the framework of Operation “Gallant Knight 3.” The members of the programme actively participated in community outreach activities, including distributing meals and inaugurating a library within the hospital, aimed at serving patients during their treatment period.
Water Purification Initiatives
The team also visited UAE-operated water purification stations, where they learned how these facilities operate and their importance in meeting the humanitarian needs of Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip. This visit highlighted the essential role of clean water in sustaining life and health in the region.
Understanding Humanitarian Aid Operations
To conclude their programme, the delegation travelled to the Rafah crossing to observe the procedures involved in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Their prior involvement in packing and preparing supplies at the Arish logistics centre provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the entire humanitarian aid process.
The Future Leaders Empowerment Programme aims to enhance participants’ experiences in humanitarian work and instil values of responsibility, generosity, and fieldwork. By experiencing the various phases of humanitarian operations, members deepen their understanding of the efforts made through Operation “Gallant Knight 3” in support of their Palestinian counterparts in the Gaza Strip.
