In an impressive milestone, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the largest provider of district cooling services globally, announced a significant 7.1% increase in demand for its services. This uptick is measured in tons of cooling per hour during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The rise is attributed to a boost in occupancy rates among existing real estate projects and the expansion of Empower’s portfolio, which has diversified its customer base across residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, and entertainment sectors. These sectors are increasingly adopting eco-friendly practices focused on sustainability and carbon emission reductions, reflecting a broader commitment to environmental stewardship.
Growing Demand for Eco-Friendly Cooling Services
The sustained increase in the consumption of district cooling services underscores a rising preference for environmentally friendly solutions. During the first six months of the year, Empower secured 86 new contracts, promising over 99,000 tons of cooling for various projects and buildings in Dubai. This achievement has elevated the company’s contracted capacity to 1.86 million tons of cooling, with delivered capacity exceeding 1.6 million tons after adding approximately 38,000 tons. The number of buildings receiving services has now reached 1,684, signifying a substantial expansion in Empower’s operational reach.
