In an exciting initiative aimed at fostering cultural identity, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has launched the program «صيفنا بالعربية». Running for the first time from July to August, this program targets children and youth aged between 8 and 17 years. Aimed at showcasing the beauty of the Arabic language, the initiative offers a modern approach that aligns with the aspirations of the younger generation. «صيفنا بالعربية» is part of broader efforts to reinforce the Arabic language as a vibrant medium of creativity and knowledge, enhancing linguistic and expressive skills among the youth and strengthening their connection to their cultural identity. This initiative resonates with the UAE’s commitment to support creativity, empower young talents, and instill national and community values.
Interactive Events to Inspire Creativity
The initiative promises a diverse range of interactive and creative events, prominently featuring the «كاريوكي بالعربية» session. This activity, conducted in collaboration with the streaming platform Anghami, is scheduled for July 10 and 17 at Manarat Al Saadiyat. It aims to engage participants in a fun and innovative manner, allowing them to express themselves through music in Arabic, thereby deepening their appreciation for the language.
Workshops to Enhance Language Skills
Additionally, «صيفنا بالعربية» includes a series of skill-building workshops designed to improve children’s writing and linguistic abilities. These workshops will be hosted at the Children’s Library within the Cultural Complex. Notably, the “اكتب لي” workshop, set for July 19, encourages participants to create alternative Arabic abbreviations to replace commonly used ones in other languages like ASAP and LOL. Another significant workshop, «رسائل عربية», taking place on July 20, will inspire children aged 10 to 15 to express gratitude and acknowledgment through letters to influential figures in their lives.
Reviving Cultural Heritage
The initiative also seeks to revive traditional Arabic proverbs through the workshop «رمستنا العربية», which is scheduled for August 16. This workshop focuses on disseminating wisdom encapsulated in proverbs, helping a new generation connect with their cultural roots in a modern context. This aspect of «صيفنا بالعربية» not only preserves linguistic heritage but also encourages young people to appreciate the depth of their culture.
