As part of its efforts to enhance cultural identity, the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language has launched a new initiative titled “Our Summer in Arabic,” aimed at engaging children and youth aged between eight and 17 years. This initiative, taking place for the first time from July to August 2025, includes a range of interactive events and creative activities designed to highlight the beauty of the Arabic language and present it in ways that resonate with the interests of the new generation. Through these efforts, the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language aims to create enjoyable educational experiences that enhance language skills and reconnect youth with their cultural identity.
Innovative Events Promoting the Arabic Language
The initiative will feature a variety of innovative events, including “Karaoke in Arabic,” in collaboration with the “Anghami” platform, which will be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat on July 10 and 17. This event aims to celebrate the beauty of the Arabic language through singing and provide an interactive experience for participants aged 10 to 17. Participants will have the opportunity to choose their favorite songs from a wide selection, contributing to improved pronunciation and building their confidence.
Workshops to Enhance Language Skills
The initiative also includes specialized workshops such as the “Write for Me” workshop scheduled for July 19, which aims to develop children’s expressive skills by creating Arabic abbreviations as alternatives to common phrases in other languages. Believing in the importance of linguistic identity, the workshop will encourage participants to interact and innovate new linguistic alternatives suitable for the modern age. Additionally, the “Arabic Messages” workshop will take place on July 20, where participants will practice writing thank-you notes to influential figures in their lives.
Reviving Heritage and Culture
In an important step towards reviving cultural heritage, the “Our Arabic Proverbs” workshop will be organized on August 16, aiming to transform popular proverbs from local dialects into Modern Standard Arabic. This workshop will target children aged 10 to 15, offering them an innovative experience focused on reinterpreting their cultural heritage.
Reading Activities and Workshops to Support Youth
The Cultural Complex will also host reading sessions specifically for children aged 9 to 12, supervised by author Haya Al Qassem, where selected books from “Kalima” publications will be read. These sessions will be accompanied by interactive activities that enhance writing skills and critical thinking, fostering participants’ linguistic imagination.
Finally, an introductory session for the “Friends of the Arabic Language” competition will be held at Al Wathba Library on July 24, aimed at promoting engagement with the Arabic language among youth through cultural and knowledge challenges throughout the year. The Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language is striving to achieve maximum interaction with these events, utilizing the support of prominent influencers to ensure that the voice of the Arabic language is heard.
