Elevating Tourism Quality with 7105 Market Inspections

In a move to enhance the stability of local markets, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism announced the implementation of approximately 7,105 inspection rounds across various markets in the country since the beginning of the regional crisis. These inspections are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of essential goods and protect consumer rights, focusing on effective price monitoring and commercial practices.

Ongoing Monitoring Efforts

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism confirmed that, in cooperation with the Economic Development Departments in the Emirates, it has conducted 7,105 inspection rounds, resulting in the identification of 567 violations that led to financial penalties exceeding 207,250 dirhams. Through these inspections, the ministry aims to enhance market surveillance and ensure stability in the prices of various goods.

Coordination Among Relevant Authorities

The ministry noted that there is high-level coordination among different authorities across all Emirates to continuously monitor goods markets. This ensures that retail traders comply with consumer protection policies, particularly regarding the pricing of essential goods, which include several items that cannot have their prices raised without prior approval.

Response to Price Fluctuations

The ministry addressed the recent temporary rise in prices of certain food items, such as onions and tomatoes, confirming that this increase is linked to the current regional crisis. It clarified that it has taken necessary measures to provide additional quantities of these goods while assuring that essentials are available in sufficient amounts.

Importance of Strategic Stockpiles

The United Arab Emirates possesses a strategic stockpile of essential goods that covers market needs for up to six months. This stockpile contributes to ensuring price stability and meeting consumer needs even during challenging times. The government also coordinates with various relevant entities to ensure effective supply chains and distribution of goods in line with market demands.

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism emphasizes that shipping and supply are proceeding smoothly through various outlets, contributing to the continuous availability of goods in the markets. The ministry encourages consumers to engage with the relevant authorities to report any violations or unjustified price increases.

In this context, consumers can reach out to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism through official channels or various communication applications. The ministry also stresses the importance of following sound consumer practices to maintain price stability and ensure the availability of goods for all citizens.

Thanks to these efforts, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism looks forward to enhancing consumer safety and providing a suitable environment for everyone in the coming period while committing to closely monitoring and overseeing the markets.
