Dubai Develops Intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street with Al Awir and Manama Streets

Dubai is one of the leading global destinations for infrastructure development, witnessing new projects aimed at improving traffic flow. Among these significant initiatives is the development project for the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with Al Awir and Manama Streets. This project involves the construction of several bridges and an increase in the number of lanes, with the goal of significantly enhancing the street’s capacity and facilitating traffic movement.

Project Details

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced the launch of a contract to develop the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with Al Awir and Manama Streets. This project includes the construction of bridges totaling 2,300 meters in length, an increase in the number of lanes, and the establishment of service roads to provide safe access and exits in the area. The project aims to raise the street’s capacity from 5,200 vehicles per hour to 14,400 vehicles, representing a remarkable increase of 176%.

Reduction in Travel Time

The development project for the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with Al Awir and Manama Streets is expected to reduce travel time from 20 minutes to just five minutes. This improvement in travel time reflects the RTA’s commitment to providing the best experience for visitors and residents, as the population and visitors in the surrounding areas of this intersection are estimated to exceed 600,000 people.

Sustainable and Inclusive Development

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, Mattar Al Tayer, stated that this project is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at developing the road and bridge network in the emirate. These projects will contribute to improving transportation and meeting the needs of the growing population in Dubai, thereby enhancing the quality of life in the city.

Future Improvements

The efforts to develop Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street extend to other areas, where work has begun to expand the road to include four lanes in each direction. The improvements also include the development of surface intersections managed by traffic signals to enhance their operational efficiency. These efforts are seen as future steps toward improving traffic flow throughout the Emirate of Dubai, with more effective traffic solutions expected to be implemented in the coming years.

Through this project, the RTA hopes to achieve sustainability and smooth traffic flow, contributing to enhancing Dubai’s status as one of the most advanced cities in infrastructure development.
