Dubai Coffee Auction Poised to Revolutionize MENA Market

In a momentous event for coffee enthusiasts and industry professionals alike, Dubai is set to host a rare coffee auction that promises to elevate the MENA coffee market, projected to reach an impressive $11.5 billion by 2025. The inaugural DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction, part of the upcoming World of Coffee Dubai 2025, will feature some of the world’s most exceptional coffee beans, giving buyers a unique opportunity to bid on these prized lots. This auction not only marks a significant milestone for the coffee trade in the region but also enhances Dubai’s status as a key player in the global coffee landscape.

Excitement Builds for the DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction

Coffee aficionados and industry leaders will flock to Dubai this February for the much-anticipated World of Coffee Dubai 2025, where the first DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction will take place. This exclusive event, organized through a strategic collaboration with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), will allow buyers from around the globe to compete for around 20 unique lots of rare, specialty-grade coffee beans, which will be available for bidding both in person and via a cutting-edge digital auction platform.

Specialty coffee is defined as beans that score 80 points or higher on the 100-point scale established by the Specialty Coffee Association Cupping form. Notably, the coffee featured in this auction will boast scores of 92 and above, ensuring that bidders have access to only the finest selections.

Record Prices and Rare Finds

As interest in high-quality coffee continues to grow, prices have been soaring. Earlier this year, a new milestone was achieved when the Elida Geisha Natural Torre coffee lot from the Lamastus Family Estate fetched a staggering $10,013 per kilogram. Among the world’s rarest coffees, Black Ivory from Thailand is known to command approximately $1,500 per kilogram, while Kopi Luwak from Indonesia can reach up to $1,200 per kilogram.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, stated, “The inaugural Dubai Coffee Auction by DMCC in 2025 is a testament to our role in shaping the future of one of the world’s most traded commodities. By showcasing some of the rarest and finest coffees, this event not only has the potential to set new record prices for specialty coffee but reinforces Dubai’s position as a leading hub in the global coffee trade.”

World of Coffee Dubai 2025: A Platform for Connection

The DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction will be a crucial highlight of WOC Dubai 2025, the largest coffee trade show in the Middle East. Scheduled to take place from February 10-12, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event is expected to attract over 13,500 visitors and more than 400 international exhibitors. As the MENA coffee market progresses toward its estimated $11.5 billion valuation, WOC Dubai emerges at a pivotal juncture for this vibrant industry.

Khalid Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President of DXB LIVE, remarked, “World of Coffee Dubai provides an essential platform for the industry, connecting coffee professionals, enthusiasts, and businesses from around the world. This auction is another sign of just how central Dubai is becoming for the coffee trade, reinforcing the city’s role as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and opportunity in the global coffee industry.”

Market Trends and Future Outlook

The coffee sector has witnessed a remarkable increase in both value and demand, with prices climbing to a 47-year peak. This surge is fueled by rising global consumption, especially in Asia, alongside supply chain challenges exacerbated by weather-induced issues in key coffee-producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam. Such dynamics highlight the significance of events like the DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction, which not only connect major players in the industry but also provide insights into emerging market trends.
