Dubai is set to make headlines in the coffee world as it prepares to host a remarkable event: the inaugural DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction in conjunction with the World of Coffee Dubai 2025. This unique auction will feature some of the rarest and most prestigious coffee beans from around the globe, reflecting the rapid growth of the MENA coffee market, which is projected to reach a staggering $11.5 billion. The event aims to attract coffee lovers and industry experts alike, showcasing Dubai’s emerging role as a central hub in the global coffee trade.
Exclusive Bidding at Dubai’s Coffee Auction
In February 2025, coffee connoisseurs and industry leaders will gather in Dubai for the World of Coffee Dubai 2025. This landmark event will include the highly anticipated DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction, where bidders will have the chance to win around 20 exceptional lots of specialty-grade coffee beans. The auction will utilize an advanced digital platform, allowing participants from across the globe to join both physically and virtually.
Specialty coffee, which earns a score of 80 points or higher on the Specialty Coffee Association Cupping form, will take center stage. Notably, all the beans available at this auction are expected to score 92 points or above, offering a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to acquire top-tier coffee.
Rising Prices and Rare Delicacies
The recent surge in specialty coffee prices underscores the growing demand and market interest. Earlier this year, a record-breaking auction witnessed the sale of the Elida Geisha Natural Torre coffee lot for an astonishing $10,013 per kilogram. Other unique coffee varieties like Thailand’s Black Ivory and Indonesia‘s Kopi Luwak continue to command premium prices, further highlighting the exclusivity and value of these rare beans.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, remarked, “The inaugural Dubai Coffee Auction by DMCC in 2025 is a testament to our role in shaping the future of one of the world’s most traded commodities.” He emphasized that the event not only has the potential to set new records for specialty coffee prices but also reinforces Dubai’s emerging position as a pivotal hub in the global coffee marketplace.
A Historic Opportunity at World of Coffee Dubai
This auction is positioned as a standout feature of the World of Coffee Dubai 2025, the largest coffee trade show in the Middle East. Running from February 10-12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event will welcome over 13,500 visitors and feature more than 400 international exhibitors. With the MENA coffee market on track to hit the remarkable valuation of $11.5 billion by 2025, this auction marks a significant moment for both the region and the global coffee industry.
Khalid Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President of DXB LIVE, noted, “World of Coffee Dubai provides an essential platform for the industry, connecting coffee professionals, enthusiasts, and businesses from around the world.” He added that the upcoming auction represents Dubai’s centrality to the coffee trade, boosting the city’s reputation as a center for innovation, collaboration, and opportunities in the sector.
The coffee industry is undergoing considerable growth, with a recent leap in coffee prices reaching a 47-year high. This boom is fueled by increasing global demand, particularly in Asia, coupled with supply challenges from key producing nations like Brazil and Vietnam. The dynamics of the market highlight the need for events like the DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction, which not only connect industry leaders but also provide valuable insights into emerging trends.
