Dubais Doorless Home Marks 35 Years of Unmatched Hospitality

A Doorless Home in Dubai Welcomes Visitors and Tourists for 35 Years

In the heart of Dubai, a unique home without a door has remained open for over 35 years, welcoming visitors and tourists. This home reflects the cultural and Islamic values that characterize Emirati society. Citizen Ahmed bin Saleem bin Butti Al Amiri embodies the spirit of generosity and cooperation through the design of his home, making it a symbol of hospitality and social interaction.

The History of the Doorless Home

In a unique gesture, Ahmed Al Amiri designed his house in the Al Zabeel First area to be open to everyone. This project began in 1983 when Ahmed got married, and after a few years, he decided to redesign his home to be without doors or barriers. “If we close the door, no one will come, and we won’t gather,” Ahmed explains, considering his home a symbol of gathering and communication among community members.

Stories from Daily Life

The home has become a natural stop for passersby, where everyone can enter without hesitation. Ahmed recalls a humorous incident when some tourists entered, thinking the house was a public garden. “They were surprised when they learned it was a private home, so we welcomed them and offered hospitality,” Ahmed says, demonstrating the values of generosity and hospitality that Emiratis are known for.

Values of Giving and Communication

The concept of an open home is not just a decision; it reflects Emirati culture, which promotes social interaction. Ahmed derives these values from his upbringing in Al Zabeel, where Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s majlis was accessible to everyone. “These are customs we have learned from our elders and leaders, and this is where the idea of my home being doorless came from,” Ahmed adds.

Safety at the Heart of Hospitality

Ahmed emphasizes that the home has remained open over the years without any fear, allowing his children to sleep safely while the door stays open. “We have not faced any problems, which is clear evidence of the security and safety we experience in the UAE,” he states. This sense of safety is shared by residents in Dubai, who also care about maintaining this secure environment.

The story of this open home in Dubai embodies the values of generosity, safety, and coexistence, showing that these are not mere slogans but are practiced daily. Ahmed bin Saleem bin Butti Al Amiri’s home stands as a living testament to the authentic Emirati spirit, continuing to welcome visitors and tourists while upholding the values of hospitality and safety that reflect the nature of this community.
