40% Growth in Dubai‘s Commercial Transport Sector by 2025 with Annual Revenues of AED 8.4 Billion
In a move that reflects the increasing economic dynamism in the Emirate of Dubai, it has been announced that a remarkable growth of 40% is expected in the commercial transport sector by 2025. This growth is attributed to a significant increase in the number of licensed companies, with annual revenues reaching AED 8.4 billion. This sustained success enhances Dubai’s position as a global hub for transport and logistics services, contributing to the advancement of the local economy.
Significant Increase in the Number of Licensed Companies
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority, revealed that the number of licensed companies in the commercial transport sector has seen a notable increase, rising from 12,100 companies in 2024 to 16,917 companies in 2025. This rise indicates an expansion of the business base and increased investor confidence in Dubai’s commercial climate, further solidifying the emirate’s position as a strategic hub for transport and logistics.
Stimulating Growth Through Innovation and Technology
Al Tayer explained that this growth has been achieved thanks to several key factors, including digital transformation and the expansion of smart solutions. There has been a growing demand for delivery services using smart applications, which has supported activity in the logistics and vehicle rental sectors. The sector has managed to respond to the increasing demands in the world of trade and supply chains with ease and efficiency.
New Developments and Strategies
In line with Dubai’s vision for commercial and logistics transport by 2030, a series of innovative initiatives were launched in 2025. Among these initiatives is the development of a regulatory framework for autonomous heavy vehicles, which contributes to enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness in advanced transport. A digital platform called “Logisti” was also launched, achieving remarkable success among operators and users, significantly improving logistical efficiency.
Efforts to Support Sustainability and Innovation
As part of the efforts to promote sustainability, the Roads and Transport Authority has partnered with a specialized company to establish a network of battery-swapping stations for delivery bikes. This project aims to reduce emissions and promote environmentally friendly solutions in the transport sector. Rest areas for delivery vehicle drivers have also been set up, helping to improve road safety and the working environment.
The ongoing growth in the commercial transport sector reflects the confidence of stakeholders in the market and directly contributes to enhancing the local economy with annual revenues amounting to AED 8.4 billion. This supports Dubai’s economic vision and strengthens its leading global position, contributing to attracting more local and international investments.
Additionally, Al Tayer emphasized the importance of integrating efforts between the public and private sectors, highlighting the value of innovation and the use of smart solutions to stimulate sector growth, thereby reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in transport and logistics.
