By 2025, the commercial transport sector in Dubai is expected to contribute 8.4 billion dirhams to the economy, demonstrating significant growth and reflecting ongoing developments in this field. According to the latest statistics, the sector has experienced a 40% increase compared to previous years, underscoring its vital role in supporting the emirate’s economy and enhancing its status as a major commercial hub.

Growth in Companies and Vehicles

The number of licensed commercial transport companies in Dubai has reached approximately 17,000, a notable increase from 12,000 companies in 2024. This development is evidence of the prosperity witnessed in this vital area, which directly contributes to increasing the gross domestic product.

Factors Driving Growth

Several factors have contributed to this growth, most notably digital transformation and the introduction of smart solutions in the transport sector. Furthermore, demand for delivery services through smart applications has surged, leading to growth in logistics activities and vehicle rentals. Therefore, the 8.4 billion dirhams is just a portion of the financial estimates that this sector could contribute in the near future.

Quality Initiatives

In 2025, several quality initiatives were launched that helped improve the social and economic indicators of the sector. Among these initiatives is the launch of a comprehensive regulatory framework for self-driving heavy vehicles in logistics services. Additionally, the “Logisti” digital platform was introduced, attracting significant interest from operators and users. Furthermore, an agreement was made with a specialized company to establish a network of battery swap stations for delivery bikes, along with creating rest areas for delivery vehicle drivers throughout the emirate.

The Sector’s Role in the Economic Agenda

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority, “The commercial transport sector plays a pivotal role in achieving Dubai’s economic agenda (D33) by facilitating the movement of goods and enhancing the fluidity of global supply chains, thereby increasing Dubai’s international competitiveness.” With the steady growth achieved, the commercial transport sector will remain a key factor in enhancing the economic performance of the emirate, highlighting the significance of the 8.4 billion dirhams as a tangible contribution in this context.
