Dubai will host the fourth edition of the “Arab Artificial Intelligence Researchers” initiative (AAIR) from November 5 to 7. This event involves the participation of Khawla University, Badr University in Cairo, and Al Qasimia University, aimed at training researchers and academics on the application of artificial intelligence agents in scientific research and international academic publishing.
Innovative Training Format
The initiative is organised by the Artificial Intelligence Journalism Research and Foresight Foundation (AIJRF) in collaboration with Dubai University and the Arab AI Index in Universities (AIU). This new edition is titled “Arab Artificial Intelligence Researchers: From Generative AI to Academic Agents in Scientific Research,” featuring a comprehensive 15 hours of practical training across three days.
Focus on AI Agents
The training programme focuses on transitioning from the individual use of generative AI tools to the design and management of academic agents capable of executing interconnected research tasks under the supervision of researchers. This approach adheres to standards of scientific integrity and academic governance.
Insights from the AIJRF CEO
Dr. Mohamed Abdelzaher, the CEO of AIJRF, highlighted that the fourth edition will focus on building AI agents and enhancing their supportive role in scientific research. This shift will enable researchers to move beyond merely using AI tools towards managing a system of specialised academic agents.
Programme Details
The programme encompasses training participants to create agents that aid scientific publishing in journals indexed in both the “Scopus” and “Web of Science” databases. It also includes developing teams of agents for managing literature reviews, surveys, interviews, and research analysis to help researchers dedicate more time to critical thinking, innovation, and scientific contributions.
Main Programme Pillars
The training is structured around three primary pillars. The first pillar focuses on the design of AI agents to support scientific research and international publishing in journals indexed in the “Scopus” database. The second pillar is centred on designing AI agents to assist in publishing in journals indexed by “Web of Science,” with a focus on analysing scientific publishing trends and identifying suitable journals.
The third pillar addresses the creation of a comprehensive team of academic AI agents (Academic Multi-Agent Team), where each agent is tasked with specific research responsibilities. These responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, analysing both quantitative and qualitative data, managing research surveys, and supporting the design and analysis of scientific interviews.
