In a significant move to honor Emirati women, the Dubai Sports Council has issued a call for women to participate in walking and running events scheduled for August 27, coinciding with Emirati Women’s Day. This initiative, part of the “Dubai Mallathon,” is supported by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Vice President, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The invitation encourages female participants from diverse nationalities, age groups, and fitness levels to join in the festivities celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in the UAE.
Celebrating Emirati Women’s Day
The Dubai Sports Council’s events for Emirati Women’s Day are not just a celebration but also reflect the community’s achievements over the past five decades. Under the guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as “Mother of the Nation,” the events underscore the theme, “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate the Fifty,” commemorating 50 years since the establishment of the UAE’s Women’s Federation. This initiative aims to reinforce the national spirit of solidarity while highlighting the critical role women play in the realm of national development.
A National Celebration
The council emphasized that this event represents a national celebration that embodies community partnership and the continuous achievements of Emirati women over five decades. It’s a reflection of the state’s vision to enhance national unity and reinforce the status of Emirati women as integral partners in the nation’s building and development journey. By participating in the walking and running activities, women can celebrate their contributions while promoting health and wellness within the community.
