Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has continued developing the “Sahail” app as part of the shared digital channels ecosystem, in line with the government’s drive to unify digital platforms and deliver an integrated mobility experience through a single platform that brings together different transport services and modes across Dubai. The effort fits within a roadmap aimed at strengthening coordination between entities and simplifying the customer journey.
The app’s ongoing development is part of a future plan designed to expand the range of services and deepen partnerships with government entities and the private sector, supporting “Sahail” in its role as a comprehensive digital platform for mobility services in the emirate.
Integrated services for public transport users
Through the application, customers can make use of the payment system linked to public transport services via the “nol” card. This includes managing cards, topping up balances, purchasing and renewing travel permits, and applying for or renewing a personalised “nol” card, following the re-engineering of these services in accordance with the principles of the 360 Services Policy.
The app has also recently been launched on smart watches, enabling users to follow trip information, arrival and departure times, and live alerts directly on the device. This provides faster and easier access to journey information while on the move.
Planning journeys across multiple modes
“Sahail” offers a comprehensive digital platform for planning trips across public transport modes, including buses, the metro, trams and abras. It also integrates with on-demand mobility services, taxi booking, and first- and last-mile transport options such as electric scooters and bicycles.
In addition, the app provides real-time trip information, bus occupancy levels, and instant notifications about any changes or delays, enabling customers to plan their journeys efficiently and with ease.
