DP World is expanding its investment in Kenya with the launch of the Mombasa Industrial Park, a special economic zone aimed at solidifying Kenya’s position as a regional gateway for trade and logistics. This project addresses the growing demand for modern industrial and logistical infrastructure in East Africa.

The company has formalised a partnership with Gulf Cap Africa, an investment and development group founded by Suleiman Shabal, to develop the complex. The industrial park will be constructed in phases over an area of 222 hectares, strategically located less than 20 kilometres from the Port of Mombasa. This proximity will enable companies to access regional and international markets with ease. The initial phase will cover 40 hectares.

Kenya represents a strategic market for DP World, characterised by a robust logistics presence and extensive market reach. Leveraging its global expertise in developing and operating integrated logistics systems and special economic zones, DP World is uniquely positioned to support the creation of world-class industrial infrastructure that enhances trade, improves market access, and fosters sustainable long-term economic growth.

Yuvraj Narayan, CEO of DP World, stated, “Kenya is an important market for us and a key gateway for trade in East Africa. The development of this industrial park reflects our commitment to investing in integrated trade infrastructure that connects ports, logistics, and industrial systems. By creating an environment that enables businesses to manufacture, distribute, and efficiently reach global markets, we are helping to unlock new frontiers for trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth.”

Mohamed Akouji, CEO and Managing Director of DP World in Africa, added, “We are excited to expand our footprint in Kenya through the development of the Mombasa Industrial Park, which enhances Kenya’s status as a leading trade and logistics hub in East Africa. This project will not only boost regional trade and supply chain connectivity but also provide thousands of job opportunities, attract new investments, and significantly contribute to the socioeconomic development of Kenya.”
