Receiving the accreditation certificate
Summary
Dubai Police achieves 100% accreditation from ACA and the Global Eagle Award, with renewed recognitions for Central Jail, Women’s Jail, and Misdemeanor Jail, receiving commendations for leadership support and human rights.
The United Arab Emirates continues to make significant strides towards excellence and leadership, enhancing its competitiveness on both regional and global levels. Recently, the General Command of Dubai Police, specifically through its General Directorate of Corrective and Punitive Institutions, received international accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA). This recognition highlights the institution’s full compliance with international human rights standards within correctional facilities, achieving a remarkable 100% rating.
Moreover, the General Directorate of Corrective and Punitive Institutions has also been awarded the Global Eagle Award by the ACA. This accolade marks it as the first in the region and third globally to achieve this honour, owing to the Misdemeanor Jail’s exceptional performance, which received its first-ever accreditation with a compliance rate of 100%. The international accreditation for both the Central Jail and Women’s Jail was also renewed, with both facilities achieving the same outstanding compliance rating.
Abdullah Al Marri
The journey towards international accreditation for Dubai’s correctional institutions began in 2020 when the Central Jail first achieved its 100% compliance certification.
In light of this achievement, the General Command of Dubai Police expressed congratulations to the United Arab Emirates and its wise leadership, emphasising the ongoing support from His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in driving excellence both locally and internationally.
Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, reiterated the commitment of Dubai Police to align with the directives and strategy of the UAE regarding human rights.
