The Green License, a pioneering offering from Expo Dubai, serves as a key enabler within the Sustainability Innovation District, a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism aimed at fostering sustainable innovation by blending economic growth with environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

The activities of the companies awarded the Green License range from waste management to climate technology, significantly enhancing the UAE’s reputation as a preferred destination for innovative businesses and entrepreneurial ventures that embrace sustainability principles. Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo Dubai, emphasized the importance of attracting and empowering innovative enterprises: “Attracting pioneering companies and empowering their growth is a pivotal milestone in the journey of the Sustainability Innovation District, aimed at accelerating a measurable positive environmental and social impact, in line with national developmental goals to support local sectors.”
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and Chairman of the UAE Circular Economy Council, remarked, “The Green License serves as an effective tool to support innovation and stimulate the growth of projects that adopt sustainable solutions. The companies that have received their Green Licenses are at the forefront of the continual development within the Sustainability Innovation District.”
Companies Recognized for Their Sustainable Innovations
The Green Licenses were presented to notable companies including AirGol, specializing in innovative climate technologies for harvesting potable water from the air; We Are Tech, a Dubai-based firm focused on technical waste management; Polygreen, which operates in the global circular economy and waste management solutions; and Carbon Assurance, the first entity accredited by the Emirates International Accreditation Center (EIAC) for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the Link Cooperative, a strategic partner in the “Terrazzo” program aimed at reducing food waste at Expo Dubai, was also recognized.
