The Dubai Chamber organized a workshop to raise awareness about food safety regulations, aiming to provide the business community in the emirate with the latest information and requirements related to food safety. This workshop is part of the Dubai Chamber’s efforts to support companies and enhance their compliance with established standards and laws, reflecting the importance of such events in maintaining the health and safety of the population.
Enhancing Commitment to Food Standards
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Dubai Municipality, organized a workshop aimed at educating the business community about the latest regulations and guidelines concerning food safety in the emirate. The workshop attracted 57 representatives from private sector companies specializing in food-related fields, focusing on the importance of compliance with local legislation.

Maha Al-Qarqawi, Vice President of the Business Community Support Sector at the Dubai Chamber, highlighted the chamber’s commitment to empowering companies by providing the necessary resources to adapt to regulations and laws. She stated, “We are keen to empower the business community by providing the knowledge and resources needed to keep pace with the regulations governing all sectors, which contributes to enhancing companies’ awareness of legislative and regulatory requirements and supports their ability to comply with best practices.”
Discussion Topics and Pillars of Food Safety
During the workshop, Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafei, Acting Executive Director of the Environment, Health and Safety Foundation at Dubai Municipality, delivered a speech expressing the municipality’s commitment to providing continuous support to the food sector, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of imported and traded food. She stated, “Dubai Municipality is dedicated to utilizing all its capabilities to ensure the smooth entry of food through the emirate’s outlets, which contributes to enhancing the food security system.”
Participant Engagement and Dialogue Sessions
The discussions addressed the topic “Crisis Testing and Future Preparedness: The Importance of Food Safety in Dubai,” where participants reviewed the key pillars of the food safety system, including the electronic food product registration system. The workshop also covered procedures related to food establishment licensing and permits, as well as food inspection and monitoring methods. The event concluded with an open dialogue session, allowing participants to ask questions on various topics, with experts from Dubai Municipality providing comprehensive and practical answers for the attendees.
