In a significant move to preserve natural resources, the Municipality of Dibba Al Hisn has launched the project titled “Hawassr and Numbering Palm Trees.” Initiated by the Department of Agriculture and Gardens, this project coincides with World Environment Day 2026 and aims to strengthen efforts in safeguarding the region’s botanical wealth. Through this initiative, the municipality seeks to adopt sustainable management practices for the thriving palm tree population in this idyllic city.
Establishing a Comprehensive Database
The “Hawassr and Numbering Palm Trees” project is designed to create a comprehensive database and unified system that documents vital information about palm trees. This database will facilitate regular maintenance and enhance management efficiency, ensuring these critical environmental and cultural assets are well-preserved for future generations.
Fostering a Culture of Greening
In conjunction with the project launch, the municipality organized a tree-planting event attended by His Excellency Taleb Abdullah Al Yahyai, the Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, along with department managers and municipal staff. This initiative aims to enhance green spaces and foster a culture of tree planting, supporting environmental sustainability while improving the overall quality of life in the community.
Recognizing Innovative Environmental Ideas
Alongside the project, the municipality honored employees and community members who participated in the “Best Innovative Environmental Idea” competition. This recognition aims to appreciate their creative contributions, which promote environmental awareness and encourage the adoption of sustainable solutions.
Preparing an Environmentally Conscious Generation
The municipality, in collaboration with Bee’ah, has organized a series of interactive workshops and awareness activities geared towards children. These initiatives aim to instill a strong environmental consciousness in the younger generation, encouraging positive behaviors that contribute to ecological preservation and the responsibility they hold towards the environment and society.
Commitment to Sustainability
His Excellency Taleb Abdullah Al Yahyai emphasized the municipality’s ongoing commitment to implementing environmental initiatives that enhance sustainability and conserve natural resources. He stated, “The ‘Hawassr and Numbering Palm Trees’ project is a crucial step towards developing an agricultural asset management system that improves monitoring and maintenance. We prioritize unique initiatives that elevate the quality of life and instill an environmental culture in the community, aligned with national efforts for sustainability and building a prosperous future for generations to come.”
