In a vibrant initiative aimed at enhancing the green identity of the city, بلدية دبا الحصن has successfully planted nearly a quarter of a million flowers in 2025. This endeavor aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to increase greenery and beautify urban landscapes. Through extensive planning and innovative techniques, بلدية دبا الحصن is making strides toward fostering a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents and visitors alike.
Massive Floral Commitment
During the annual planting campaign, بلدية دبا الحصن introduced approximately 228,000 diverse flowers across an area of around 20,520 square meters. Additionally, the city introduced 1,580 various shrubs occupying 3,160 square meters, as well as 460 trees providing shade over 7,680 square meters. The planting included 6,400 ground cover seedlings to enhance 576 square meters and featured 70 date palms alongside 101 palm-like trees, significantly contributing to the city’s botanical diversity and visual appeal.
A Green Identity for the City
Khadija Najib, Director of Agriculture at بلدية دبا الحصن, emphasized that the success of the annual planting efforts is attributed to a comprehensive care plan devised by the department. This plan involves utilizing the latest agricultural practices and developing advanced methods for plant care. The implementation of automatic irrigation systems has also been crucial in maintaining optimal conditions for the flora, streamlining daily care processes.
Najib elaborated, “We focused on diversifying the plants to suit the climatic conditions of the city, ensuring that every neighborhood features a well-integrated natural environment, whether through flowers, shrubs, or the palm and palm-like trees that provide a unique green identity. These initiatives are not merely about planting; they represent a long-term strategy to enhance environmental quality and create a sustainable aesthetic that benefits both residents and visitors.”
