During the 28th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026), Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), oversaw the signing of three significant agreements with leading global companies: Huawei, Nozomi Networks, and Cisco Soft Labs. The agreements were finalised by Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President for the Power Transmission Sector at DEWA, in the presence of Al Tayer.
The agreements were established through Moro, the digital arm of DEWA. Al Tayer highlighted the importance of enhancing DEWA’s strategic partnerships with world-renowned institutions, stating, “We are committed to leveraging the latest technologies, solutions, and best global practices to improve the efficiency and resilience of our critical infrastructure, ensuring its preparedness for the future and keeping pace with rapid developments in areas such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, and asset and data management.”
He also remarked, “The memorandums of understanding signed will enhance our capabilities in proactive asset and risk management, promote knowledge transfer, and build technical capacity to support operational security, reliability, and continuity, thereby enabling DEWA to meet Dubai’s accelerating growth and its future needs.”
Collaboration with Huawei
DEWA revealed that its agreement with Huawei focuses on providing Huawei’s products and solutions, including devices, software, support services, and value-added services. This collaboration aims to address DEWA’s needs in information and communications technology infrastructure, networks, data centres, digital stations, and cybersecurity.
The agreement encompasses the support of existing technical assets, including routers, communication equipment, servers, switches, and associated software, alongside technical support, maintenance services, training, workshops, knowledge transfer, and cooperative testing of emerging technologies and solutions. David Dai, Vice President for the Gulf Region of Huawei’s Information and Communications Technology Solutions and Services, stated, “DEWA has long been an important strategic partner for Huawei, and we take pride in enhancing our collaboration to support the development of a more intelligent, resilient, and sustainable energy infrastructure.”
Dai continued, “By leveraging Huawei’s global expertise in ICT and innovative digital solutions, we aim to enhance the resilience and reliability of DEWA’s electricity transmission infrastructure, boost operational efficiency, and ensure business continuity. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting DEWA’s digital transformation and its pursuit of sustainable development in Dubai.”
Partnership with Nozomi Networks
DEWA’s partnership with Nozomi Networks aims to bolster collaboration in sustainable digital technologies and solutions while enhancing the operational resilience of critical energy transmission infrastructure. This partnership includes advancing asset monitoring capabilities, cybersecurity risk management, and providing a unified framework for managing cybersecurity solution licenses via the Nozomi Vantage platform, enabling centralised license management and streamlining renewal processes.
Bashir Moussa, Vice President for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Nozomi Networks, expressed, “This institutional licensing agreement is a significant milestone in our partnership with DEWA, which has been built over more than eight years of close collaboration.” He added, “The agreement establishes a long-term framework that empowers DEWA to continue enhancing its operational technology security ecosystem using the latest AI-driven innovations and advanced capabilities to improve comprehensive visibility, cybersecurity risk management, and operational resilience.”
Collaboration with Cisco Soft Labs
DEWA’s agreement with Cisco Soft Labs encompasses the provision of specialised solutions for managing operational technology (OT) system records, enhancing asset performance monitoring, overseeing networks, and managing risks. This includes a unified platform for managing and monitoring operational technology applications and assets, as well as support services, security updates, training, workshops, technical consultations, knowledge transfer, early access to new features and updates, and practical trials to demonstrate value.
Rajendran Chilamuthu, Vice President for Sales, Business Development, and Strategy at Nozomi Networks, stated, “We are proud to continue our collaboration with DEWA, an organisation widely recognised for its commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and securing critical infrastructure.” He further emphasised, “This partnership highlights our shared focus on enhancing operational technology asset visibility, proactively identifying cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities, and supporting the resilience of vital operational environments.”
Chilamuthu concluded, “At Cisco OT, we believe that effective cybersecurity for operational technology begins with having comprehensive asset information and a continuous awareness of risks. We are committed to providing reliable, tailored solutions that assist operators of critical infrastructure in enhancing security, maintaining operational continuity, and confidently advancing their digital transformation journey.”
