Cala Vista: Is This Dubai’s Hidden Gem for Italian Cuisine?

Dubai is a melting pot of culinary experiences, and when it comes to Italian dining, the choices can seem endless. Among the vibrant array of options, Cala Vista has emerged as a standout contender. Situated in the picturesque Mina Al Salam, this restaurant offers a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes, making it a potential frontrunner among the best Italian restaurants in Dubai. From its captivating views to its mouthwatering menu, Cala Vista is a place that deserves your attention.

Let’s Start with the Setting

First impressions matter, and at Cala Vista, the ambiance is simply stunning. Positioned directly in front of the Burj Al Arab, diners are treated to an unobstructed view that is nothing short of magical. Unlike many places where the iconic structure is merely a distant silhouette, here you can gaze at it in all its glory, providing a cinematic backdrop to your dining experience. The setting sets the stage for the culinary delights to follow, creating an atmosphere where every detail is purposefully curated.

The Food

Cala Vista

To say the food at Cala Vista is impressive would be an understatement. Our meal commenced with the Burrata Pomodori (Dhs95), which was heavenly with its creamy texture—exactly what one hopes for when ordering burrata. Following this was the Fritto Misto (Dhs135), a delightful medley of perfectly crisp seafood, ideal for sharing. The Insalata di Agrumi (Dhs70), a citrus salad, brought a refreshing brightness alongside the richness of the other dishes, displaying Cala Vista’s well-thought-out culinary balance.

For the main course, my selections included La Piccante pizza (Dhs125), which brought a satisfying level of spice courtesy of the spicy salami, and the Agnolotti (Dhs140)—braised oxtail ravioli that was rich and thoroughly warming. A standout signature dish was the Tagliolini al Limone (Dhs130), featuring homemade pasta generously tossed in Parmigiano Reggiano. If dining with friends, don’t skip the La Milanese (Dhs310), perfect for sharing and savoring together.

Expect a delightful spread of sharing starters, delectable pasta mains, classic sides, and indulgent desserts combined with live music from a roaming band. This transforms the brunch into a vibrant celebration of la dolce vita.
