Borgil Holding, a prominent player in healthcare services, has announced the consolidation of its four day surgery centres in the UAE into a unified platform. This strategic move is aimed at creating a cohesive structure that will support the future growth of outpatient healthcare services and day surgeries.
New Leadership Appointments
As part of this initiative, Borgil has made key leadership appointments, including Aaron Lobo as the Chief Executive Officer of the new platform, Bhavan Sharma as the Chief Financial Officer, and Dr. Omar Baldou as the Medical Director for the day surgery centres.
Overview of Current Facilities
Borgil currently manages four day surgery centres across the UAE: Borgil Day Surgery Centre on Al Reem Island, Borgil Day Surgery Centre in Al Shahama, Borgil Day Surgery Centre in Al Dhafra, and Borgil Day Surgery Centre in Al Ain. These facilities will now operate under a shared clinical and operational framework, ensuring unified financial management and establishing clear accountability regarding quality, patient experience, growth, and financial performance.
Aim of the New Structure
The newly established structure aims to unify clinical pathways, enhance capacity utilisation, streamline procurement processes, and improve workforce planning. This will provide clearer insights into costs and profitability, enabling more efficient distribution of healthcare services across the Borgil network. The specialised day surgery facilities will cater to elective surgeries and minimally invasive procedures that do not require overnight hospital stays.
Future Growth Plans
The planned expansion in day surgery services is part of Borgil’s medium-term growth strategy, which encompasses 18 entities in various healthcare sectors across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council region. This expansion aligns with the group’s ongoing efforts to develop specialised healthcare platforms alongside its network of hospitals.
Insights from Leadership
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and CEO of Borgil Holding, commented, “Day surgeries represent not just an extension of the traditional hospital model; they are a sector with unique operational dynamics, capital requirements, and growth opportunities in their own right.”
