The 35th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair kicked off with remarkable growth indicators on its opening day, reflecting the expanding cultural and economic impact of the event. It successfully transformed extensive international participation into tangible interactions with literature and its accompanying educational programmes.
Impressive Sales Growth
According to the daily report from the fair, book sales on the first day soared by 97% compared to the same period last year. Notably, the number of books sold experienced a staggering increase of 108%. This achievement indicates that the success of the fair extends beyond financial metrics, broadening the base of book ownership—an essential factor linked to the fair’s cultural mission and its aim to encourage reading.
Increased Attendance and Commercial Activity
The fair, which commenced on 13th September, welcomed an 11% rise in the number of visitors compared to the first day of the previous year. This surge in attendance was accompanied by an even more significant leap in commercial activity, with total sales increasing by 93%. This growth in spending within the fair surpassed the rise in visitor numbers, highlighting a robust engagement with the event.
As the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair continues to unfold, it promises to further foster a love for literature and knowledge-sharing among its attendees, reinforcing its vital role in the cultural landscape.
