Art and Culture Spark Deep Human Dialogue

Art and culture play a vital role in enhancing human dialogue, as exemplified by the recent success of “Art Dubai.” This year’s exhibition marked its 20th edition, drawing a record number of attendees and garnering widespread acclaim. With robust sales reported by participating galleries, art institutions, and collectors from Dubai, the region, and across the globe, the event underscores the significance of cultural engagement in fostering connections among diverse communities.

A Celebration of Creativity

The 20th edition of “Art Dubai” took place at Madinat Jumeirah from May 14 to 17, honoring the artists, galleries, and institutions that have been instrumental in the unprecedented growth of the creative industries in the UAE over the past two decades. The event attracted over 25,000 visitors, achieving a new record for open days accessible to the public and received accolades for showcasing a new generation of creators residing in the UAE.

Supporting Cultural Engagement

“Art Dubai” was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, while the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority served as the strategic partner for the exhibition. Additionally, “Here” — a developer specializing in cultural lifestyles — partnered with the fair, further enhancing the cultural dialogue that is integral to the event.

Benedetta Ghion, Executive Director of “Art Dubai,” remarked, “This special edition of ‘Art Dubai’ epitomized the spirit of collaboration that underpins Dubai’s cultural landscape. Its success is the result of significant collective efforts from artists, galleries, partners, and cultural institutions. What we witnessed this week reflects Dubai’s growing prominence on the global art map and the role culture plays in fostering dialogue and closeness between communities.”

Dubai’s Artistic Landscape

This edition marked a significant milestone for Dubai, reinforcing its stature as the leading commercial hub for the arts in the region. The exhibition included a range of contemporary, modern, and digital artistic practices, showcasing international galleries that have supported the region for decades alongside those that have been pivotal in shaping its cultural scene. Participants noted the strength of the local collecting scene and the remarkable support from Dubai’s artistic community.

Franco Niro, founder of the “Franco Niro” gallery in Turin, commented, “Since our first participation in ‘Art Dubai’ in 2014, we have recognized the artistic vibrancy of the region and the incredible talents it nurtures. Our return this year, despite challenges, was an extraordinary experience, particularly given the high level of awareness and expertise among collectors in Dubai.”

A Platform for Emerging Artists

Timur Ghrahan, who opened his gallery in Dubai in 2025, shared, “This year’s ‘Art Dubai’ was exceptional in every respect. We were thrilled to present a solo booth for Emirati artist Rawda Al Mazrouei, with all her works selling in the early hours of the exhibition. There was a remarkable atmosphere of connection and interaction among participants from Dubai and the region.”

Maliha Tabari, founder of “Tabari Art Space,” added, “This year, ‘Art Dubai’ celebrates its 20th anniversary, and it’s hard to overstate its importance to the region. Since its inception, the fair has played a crucial role in our artistic ecosystem, contributing to the introduction of Middle Eastern and North African arts to a global audience.”

Mohamed Hafez, co-founder of “Ather Gallery,” noted, “Both ‘Art Dubai’ and ‘Ather’ have grown together. Artist Rami Farouk began his journey with the first edition of the fair, and now he returns for its 20th anniversary with a solo exhibition titled ‘Insha’Allah Khair,’ which serves as a tribute to Dubai and the region.”

Through such exhibitions, art and culture significantly enhance human dialogue, promoting understanding and appreciation among different communities, thus continuing to shape Dubai as a beacon of creative expression.
