Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency has opened nominations for the 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Awards, one of the region’s leading independent initiatives recognising outstanding corporate performance in sustainability.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group, which operates under the authority, the awards honour institutions and individuals that have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and commitment to advancing sustainability across the region.
As the awards enter their tenth year, Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency is inviting government, private and non-profit entities to take part in this special edition, underscoring the idea that environmental protection and economic competitiveness are complementary and mutually reinforcing.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 29 September 2026 at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort. Over the past decade, the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Awards have become a leading platform for celebrating excellence and encouraging progress, with participating entities evolving from the early adoption of sustainability practices to broader institutional change that has helped raise the standard of responsible business in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
The 2026 edition invites organisations to present their achievements and join in marking a decade of ambition, collaboration and positive impact.
Tangible results
Dr Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency, said that as the awards mark 10 years since their launch, the authority is reaffirming that sustained commitment to sustainability has delivered tangible results, strengthened ecosystems and supported the path towards a future grounded in science and the responsible management of natural resources, adding that environmental resilience is a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s long-term prosperity.
She added that the institutions recognised through these awards embody the leadership, innovation and responsibility needed to turn ambition into real outcomes, and called on all bodies and entities contributing to a prosperous future to take part in this edition and help shape the next stage of sustainable growth and transformation in Abu Dhabi.
Eng Abdullah Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Executive Director of the Integrated Environmental Planning and Policy Sector at Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency, said the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Awards have evolved from a recognition programme into a genuine catalyst for positive change, noting that each year institutions raise their ambitions, invest in stronger reporting and disclosure, broaden stakeholder engagement and develop more precise methods for measuring impact.
He said the 2026 edition offers an important opportunity for organisations at every stage of their sustainability journey to assess progress and highlight models of leadership that deliver long-term sustainable results.
Six categories
The 2026 awards will recognise excellence across six main categories: Best Sustainability Initiative, honouring innovative projects with significant sustainability impact; Best Sustainability Report, recognising excellence in transparency, disclosure and ESG reporting; Sustainability Manager of the Year, for professionals leading institutional transformation in sustainability; Sustainability Leader of the Year, for senior leaders shaping long-term sustainability strategies; Best Sustainability Communication Programme, recognising outstanding initiatives in stakeholder engagement and effective communication; and Best Energy Management Initiative, which will be assessed exclusively by the Energy Institute.
