Abu Dhabi Ports Enters Landmark 50-Year Deal with Emirates Food Industries

Recently, Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of a 50-year lease agreement with Emirates Food Industries, which is part of the National Holding Group. This agreement is a strategic step aimed at enhancing the logistical capabilities of the port and solidifying its position as a key center for trade and logistics services in the region. This collaboration will provide significant support to the country’s food security system, increasing the storage capacity for strategic food commodities at Khalifa Port.

Development of Modern Silos at Khalifa Port

Under the lease agreement, modern silos will be developed at the southern dock of Khalifa Port. This initiative aims to enhance the port’s capabilities, reflecting Abu Dhabi Ports Group’s commitment to establishing itself as a comprehensive logistics hub. The new silos are expected to contribute to the food security system by increasing the storage capacity for essential commodities.

Future Investments in the Food Industry

The upcoming phases of the project include the establishment of a modern grain processing plant, with a cost of up to two billion dirhams. This plant will form an integrated industrial complex, enhancing the manufacturing infrastructure in the food sector. In this context, Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of the Ports Sector, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “Our agreement with Emirates Food Industries is an important step in our ongoing commitment to support the food security system of the United Arab Emirates.”

Improving the Food Supply Chain

Joseph Abdo, CEO of Emirates Food Industries, emphasized the significance of this agreement, saying: “This project represents a significant milestone through which we aim to enhance and develop our industrial and operational capabilities in the food sector.” The collaboration between the two parties demonstrates their shared commitment to strengthening the food supply chain and increasing capacity to meet growing demand.

A Sustainable and Advanced Complex

Both parties are looking to establish a sustainable complex characterized by high capabilities for storing and processing grains, supported by the latest technologies. This complex, which will cover an area of 100,000 square meters, will have direct access to the docks of Khalifa Port, facilitating the reception of Panamax vessels. The storage capacity of the complex is expected to reach approximately 150,000 metric tons, enabling rapid responses to market changes and supply chain requirements.
