Abu Dhabi Police Alert Public to Scam Services from Fraudulent Accounts

Abu Dhabi Police has issued a crucial warning regarding the rise of fake accounts used to promote fraudulent services, offers, and properties. This alert aims to protect the public from deception and underscores the importance of vigilance in identifying illegitimate online activities. As the digital landscape evolves, these unauthorized entities are becoming increasingly sophisticated, necessitating a proactive response to ensure community safety.

Rising Threat of Fraudulent Accounts

The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Customs, has raised an alarm about the growing activity of fake accounts across social media platforms and digital channels. These deceptive entities exploit fabricated text messages to mislead the public and steal personal data. They advertise fake tickets for seasonal events, offer bogus services for residency visa processing, and present misleading promotions for recruiting domestic workers. Additionally, they market unendorsed insurance products and promote the sale of confiscated vehicles at unrealistic prices. These tactics aim to extract money from victims through fraudulent means by soliciting personal information under the guise of tracking or shipping parcels or luring individuals into illegal financial investment schemes by promoting fictitious properties.

Professional Deceptive Tactics

Abu Dhabi Police has emphasized that these accounts employ highly professional misleading tactics. They generate enticing advertisements and tickets at unrealistic prices and utilize fake images and information to create an illusion of credibility. The police urge community members to verify the sources of advertisements and to interact only with official and trusted platforms.

Furthermore, the police stressed the importance of not transferring any funds or sharing personal and banking information before verifying the authenticity of the advertising entity. They highlighted that prevention starts with awareness and the avoidance of falling for fake offers.

Immediate Reporting of Suspicious Accounts

Abu Dhabi Police encourages the public to report any suspicious accounts or advertisements immediately. They reaffirm their commitment to monitoring and tracking these accounts and taking legal action against those responsible, in collaboration with relevant authorities. The police emphasized that protecting the community from cyber crimes is a shared responsibility that requires societal awareness and constant vigilance.

Enhancing Digital Literacy

The police also called on community members to enhance digital literacy and to be diligent in verifying the authenticity of offers and advertisements before engaging with them. Such proactive measures will help mitigate these fraudulent practices and enhance security and safety within the community.
